The week between Christmas and New Year's is traditionally the lowest-traffic week of the year for my site, and I'm gonna be out of town anyway, so I thought I might try something a little different this year. Here's a teaser for my idea:

I've already got the basic idea for the story and will hopefully start working on it before we drive down to Maryland (one advantage of driving down is I can actually bring my big Cintiq with me) for the holiday. Of course, going over my outline and idea list, this might end up being MORE work than the usual QC strips >.<
So uh I no promises yet I guess, but hopefully I won't puss out and will actually get this done.

While the Perth supergroup (comprised of End Of Fashion, Jebediah, Eskimo Joe and many more) performed songs of John Lennon, an artist threads, splashes and paints a portrait of said "Beatle".
The tribute was for the Perth premiere of the John Lennon biopic, Nowhere Boy.

I went and saw Avatar yesterday. In IMAX 3-D. It was really good, however it cost me almost $100 for four tickets. What the?
It is now hot, and I have thus far spent the first day of my holidays from work sitting on the couch, playing WoW and watching Friday Night Lights. Pretty good fun really.

On a happy note, today I bought all my christmas presents from one place.
I am particularly happy with both the Secret Santa, and Jacintas. Jacintas outgoing gifts always walk that fine line between awesome and ridiculous, and I think this does the same. Although it may possibly be in the process of tripping off the line, and falling into the Ridiculous Abyss. But I think that only makes it better.

Tubgirl staggered and finally collapsed. "You...you have defeated me," she gasped.
"No," Fart-chan replied. "It was you who defeated yourself."
Statistics are here!
You can now see the number of people who have visited your journal, your individual entries, a chart of comments, readers of the RSS feed of your journal, and the last 100 logged-in users who have visited your journal directly (if you've enabled My Guests).
Things you should know:
-Stats are completely anonymous (only My Guests is tied to username); only numbers are recorded, not any other information
-The times and dates in the graph are based on server time, which is UTC/GMT
-The light grey number at the top left corner of the graph is the statistical outlier
-While the graph may go back in time to this summer, the stats-gathering server was not on constantly, so previous stats may be missing. Today, and going forward, full stats are collected and displayed.
-If you opt out of My Guests (meaning that your username will not show up on other people's reports and you will not be able to view your My Guests tab), it does not affect your use of the rest of the Stats - if you're a Paid or Permanent user, you'll still be able to see all the rest of the information on this feature

...I find it interesting that the last few posts have been rather matter-of-fact, deadpan delivery, with a voice that does not sound at all happy with recent events.

Some prefer to paint their toes,
I prefer to dress my words
In perfumed oils & pretty pink bows.
Let's kick this up a notch.
Last weekend, despite mighty efforts to restrain me, including time, money and common sense, I went camping and touring the south. Great trip, great company.
Started off by denying my poor Cass by making her wait up for me, while I made a fishing-rods-holder and affixed it to the front of my awesome new car, a 1998 Pathfinder. 4WD awesomeness.
Fishing rods firmly affixed to the front of the 'Finder, I fearlessly flung myself northwards, to pick up Anton. And also harrass him, since he had had a big night.
Headed south, we eventually found our way to Meelup Beach.
It's been FAR too long since I visited this place - I forgot how jaw-droppingly beautiful the water is. I need to come back far more often. S'a good thing I will be, then, when I go camping for NYE, and afterwards.
Eventually (far too soon) people tired of bobbing in the water (no-one wanted to go out any further than waist-deep =( I wanted to play sandfights out in the deep. It's much more fun when you have to swim deeper, more than your own height, to get a fistful of mud), and we made our way to the campsite.
Drove for a long, long time to get there, though it was definitely worth it, in the end. Alexandra Bridge camp site is a nice spot.
Did my manly job of collecting lots of wood, and getting ridiculously dirty doing it. Managed to get four Karri trees that had been felled and dried by a recent burn-off. Actual trees, about 6m long on average, about 15-20cm diameter at the base. Four of these suckers (though only two of them collected by myself & Sab) feeding into a small, open, concrete fireplace. The hotplate, two square feet of solid rust, was host to some wonderfully burnt sausages.
Oh yeah! A can of spaghetti exploded later on in the night. Everyone crapped themselves, it was hilarious. The sauce burnt everyone's skin, and the next morning the cold, white spaghetti-shrapnel looked like maggots, finding their final resting place everywhere, the sides of tents, people's hair, everywhere.
The rest of the night was filled with little incident. Except for me passing out, and collapsing at the door of the wrong tent, tearing it in the process =(
Woke up at some ungodly AM-hour and rolled into my own tent, which despite the lack of mattress was really, really comfortable. I know it wasn't just the beer and wine telling me it was comfortable, either, because I wasn't stiff or sore the next morning... any more than I expected to be, at any rate, given that I'd got drunk on goon.
Visted a Meadery on the way out, and picked up an utterly fantastic bottle of Boysenberry-port-style mead. This is pretty easily the second-best port I've had. It's very, very nice.
After that I realised the time, and had to head back up to Perth =(
Other than that, life has been... well, a little too interesting.
Currently living in Safety Bay, a most beautiful part of the city. Walking distance from the beach, and all the houses look nice and the rental prices hugely bloated... it's just a pity at the commute to Applecross, which can range anywhere from 45min to 90min, depending on traffic.
My poor darling wife has had to endure a lot, recently, with a scare that her brain-aneurysm troubles had returned. Turns out it's not quite as serious... just something wrong with her heart. =(
She finally caved to my pressure recently, and we have reformatted her laptop in an attempt to get Vista to not run like an amputeed sloth... unfortunately it seems to have done more damage than good.
We both wish every day that there were more hours to spare... but, at least down in Safety Bay we get some pretty glorious sunsets to watch, as we walk along the edge of the gently-breaking waves, hand in hand.

Hello
I've finally managed to stop biting my nails (it's only taken 26 years) so I'm now wanting to get a nice manicure done in time for Christmas to treat myself. I've not heard good things about the bigger franchises like Professionail/Gentle Nails.
so can anyone recommend a good nail salon or manicurist? Would prefer somewhere either in the city itself or northern suburbs..
Thank you!
