The death of one site spawns the birth of a new one.
Well LJ has given me a good 6 and a bit years, but I have decided it is time to move on. So it is with a little sorrow I say good bye to LJ, and say hello to my new blog at www.noodlez.com.au
I may put the odd update here now and then, but most stuff will now be on my other blog.
Once i have a syndicated feed, I will let you all know, as then you can add that blog to your lj as well and not miss out when I make important posts :)

Dylan Moran.
Crazy, hilarious, insane, captivating, comedian and fantastic.
I don't think words can explain just how awesome last night was getting to see him live.

For those of you who are ignorant, I tell you to go and watch Black Books.

For those of you who know who he is, you should have gone to see him! I think that was one of the best comedy shows I have ever seen, and don't think there is going to be much that can top it.

Before it started, I really wasn't sure what to expect, but as he walked out on stage with a glass of wine and lit up a cigarette, it felt like I was at home with a favourite uncle telling me stories. A crazy Irish uncle, yet still extremely cool.

It was all so familiar, yet all so new.

Theres two of them!..

This would have to be one of the most awesome short animations I have ever seen. Ever. So awesome that I am surprised that the interwebs has not imploded from having something so awesome on it.

Takes a little while to buffer, but if you have any geek (and maybe a little retro) blood in you, then it should be oh so worth it.

My tip is to wait after the credits too as there is a little something else.
If only this could really happen... :)

Well, I suppose it is about time that I get around to writing about my weekend. I had meant to do it earlier, but this week has been flat out and am only finally getting the chance to do it now.

First things first, the Blues and Roots festival was absolutely fantastic! I had an absolute ball, tho it was tiring, I would do it again tomorrow.

Having a media pass was pretty good. Didn't have to worry about getting a good spot in the crowd to be able to see as I was right at the front between the stage and the crowd, so i only had to fight for a spot with other photographers, which wasn't all that bad :) Plus we had our own little media area where we could sit down and chill which was great. Plus there were free drinks all day, both days, which most others took advantage of as most of it was alcohol.

So much to write about, so I think I will just put a list of highlights for the weekend.
- Ben Harper!!
- Met Missy Higgins. She even signed my bag.
- Finally saw Wolfmother perform live
- Met Angus and Julia Stone
- Enjoyed the back stage BBQ organised by Triple J
- Met Sid from The Vasco Era
- John Mayer = awesome
- Met Bob Evans

It was all just so good!

For anyone who is interested, there are a bunch of pics at Perthnorg which is who i was there shooting for, here.

I also found out during the week that my flickr site was linked to here at enjoyperth.

And there is also a right up of the weekend from Perthnorg for day 1 and day 2.

Blues and Roots

Well, its definitely confirmed now. I am shooting the West Coast Blues and Roots music festival this coming weekend.
I sooo cant wait!!
I get to go in for free, see bands I love and have wanted to see live for ages (Wolfmother, Gomez, Blue King Brown) and take photos of them, and done have to worry about being shoved and pushed and everything else that happens in the crowd as I will be between them and the stage. Talk about awesome!! :)
Going to be pretty full on, but will be great.

And tomorrow is GO3, so that would be interesting. I have managed to get in on fri so I dont have worry about thousands of 'normal' people running and being generally 'newbish'. Just trade and well behaved people :)

Its times like this that I realise that I left more than I thought behind in Busselton than I orginally realised.
But then I guess, even if I went back, it wouldnt be there anymore anyways. People have changed, moved on.

I guess I will just have to keep looking and hope that I can find it again. Sooner rather than later would be nice.

Well todays ending was pretty fantastic to an otherwise extremely crappy day.
After TAFE this evening, a few friends and I decided to head to The Moon cafe for a slight bit of indulgery, and was it ever. I had been told about the strawberry pizzas before and so we all decided to give it a try, as well as the chocolate pizza.
It was oh so good.

Some pics after the break.

Yesterday I took part in a flash mob.
For those of you who dont know what one is, (which I am surprised at how many there are), I sugest that you take a quick look at this link here, as it will explain it best.

It was great to finally get the chance to be involved in one of the mobs as I missed out on the last two.

I am not going to write too much about it here as I have already writen an article for Perth Norg, so if you want to check it out, I have another linky for you.

The next one should be even better :)

If you want to be involved in the next one, you can go to Do or DIY or let me know and I will try to let you know if I remember :)

Disgusted

I have just seen one worst music videos I think ever. Nothing to do with the actual content, but with the song it self.
This guy who calls himself a Christian has written a song called "The Bible Says".
It would have to be the worst case of taking something of context that I think possible. No wonder there is a lot of mistrust regarding Christians.

I have written previously about homosexuality and how I personally dont agree with it, but I dont hold that against the actual person themselves. I am still good friends with a few people who are gay, but this guy. Seriously, I am really disgusted at his attitude and that he has the audacity to put it up around the web and then complain that it has been banned from different sites such as myspace, youtube and google video.

I could go on about this a lot more. I am trully saddened by this man and what he has done.
If you want to check what I am talking about, then go here. You will soon understand what the fuss has been all about.

I am interested to know what others think.

Edit:
Well after getting all that out of my system, I have done a little bit of research and it turns out the guy who wrote the song is a 'reformed homosexual' and is some Pastor. His explination for the song is that "By letting people know that "God hates a Fag" I am doing Gods work, I'm preaching."

Yeah, whatever. All you are doing is antagonising people and giving Christianity a bad name. Totally the wrong way to go about what you are trying to do.

So today I enrolled into a TAFE course.
I have decided that I want to pursure photography at this point in time and impove my knowledge and skills I have already learnt.

It took me a little bit of time to decide to do this as it is going to take up fair bit of my free time, but I think it is going to be worth it.
I am actually looking forward to getting back into some study.

I am doing it as a part time course which is being run nights so starting next week, Monday and Tuesday nights from 6 to 9:30 will be filled with lots of learning and study at Central TAFE in the city.
Cant wait :)

Movies

So last week I went and saw the latest Bond movie, which was good enough and I did enjoy, but I wanted to touch on the adds and previews before a movie starts at the cinema. It has been a little while since I went to the cinema last, but not soo long that these sort of changes would have made, well that is what I think.

I just remember a few years ago when I used to go to the movies at least twice a month, you would get a few adds, not too many that would annoy too much (you could argue that 1 is too many I suppose), but you could live with them. Then you would get a few previews which I dont really mind at all. In fact I like playing the game where you try and be the first to pick what movie it is, and you would maybe get 5-7 previews (I think). But now it seems to be reversed. You get so many adds now and maybe 2 or 3 previews. But what ever way they do it, generally this only takes up about 10 mins and if you are unlucky maybe 15. Something I can also live with.

But this all accumilated into the longest wait for a movie to start I have ever been to when I went to see Bond. I get into the cinema at 8:50 which is the time the cinema had for the movie starting. Get in my seat and wait. Watch some adds. Wait for the adds to stop. What the hell? Why are these adds not stopping. *sigh* OOer the add is finishing, maybe this is it. Nope. More adds. Whats the time? Only just after 9. And they havent even had the previews yet? Is the projectionist dead or something and the add reel is stuck? More adds. Oh, its only 10 past 9. I guess I shouldnt be so impatient :p Oh yay! Another add! I am so happy! That 10 bucks was the best I ever spent to come and watch adds!! I am going to do this again tomorrow!
Oh yay! Now we have previews.

Seriously, it was at least 25 mins from the time the adds started till the movie finally rolled onto the big screen.
What the hell is with that? Seeing as the movie is over 2 and half hours long as it is, do we really need to sit through almost 30 mins of adds before it starts?

I used to really love going to the movies. And people wonder why movie piracy is so big.

Dont mind me, I am off to watch the preview screener of Happy Feet in the compfort of my lounge with no adds, and cheaper popcorn.

Merry Christmas

Jumping the shark

Before I get into my rant/discussion, I must warn everyone that this post contains spoilers regarding a as yet to be screened episode of The O.C.

So here I am, sitting at my computer at 6am in the morning after getting home from a lan and having not yet gone to sleep, so I decide to watch the latest ep of The OC that I downloaded.
Mistake number 1*. Yep. To be honest, this show is absolute crap, yet for some reason I just cant stop watching it. I think the are beaming some sort of addictive narcotic through the program.
Anyways, I think they should have ended The OC with season 3. Up till then, the show was ok (though i still wish they had less Marisa, i suppose that is one thing the new series has going for it) as it wrapped everything up with all the characters and we could all go home feeling a little sad for everyone as they were saddened at the loss of a friend and daughter and what not, but we knew that they would survive, even if it was only for one more fantastic Chrismika miracle. But no, they had to go and start season 4.

Mistake number 2**.
And here they jump the shark. (For those who don’t know that this, for a brief but informative history lesson, please read this wiki article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jump_the_shark I am sure you will find this enlightening.) Now instead of us getting to believe that everything is fine with the characters, we now have to "go through" the pain and suffering that is getting over the death of Marisa (not sure why, if it was me, I would have had a week long party) and everything that goes with that. Then for some reason, the writers decided in their most infinite wisdom that the best way for Ryan to get over his grief is to give him a new love life to help forget all about what has happened (I want to forget about Marisa too and she isn’t even real :/). 'Sure, why not? Sounds like a good idea', I hear you say, and while it is a good idea, it doesn’t mean they can’t stuff that up which leads us to...

Mistake number 3!*** and shark jumping number 2. Ep 5 starts off with a darkened shot with Taylor washing the window in a white and wet shirt being all sexy with music playing. OMG!! What are you trying to do? Why not just rub salt into my wounds and then dunk me in vinegar? Why would you set Taylor and Ryan up? Hasn’t the guy gone through enough with having to have a skanky drunk crack whore (apologies to any crack whores reading this, I am sure you are really nice and don’t deserve to be compared to Marisa either) for a gf for 3 years and all the trouble that she always caused? So now you put him with the most opposite of personalities? Well at least she isn’t a skank, I will give you that.
So ,moving on, otherwise I will be rambling here for weeks.

Mistake number 4**** and shark jumping 3 (here lies the spoiler) where we find Taylor and Ryan having a little tiff about not being bf/gf or whatever. Anyways, they end up in a coma. Now if I can work out what is happening and what is going to happen exactly in a tv ep within the first 5 minutes, the seriously, wtf!?? Were the writers having a week off that week and so they decided to find the most used idea in any movie or other tv show and realised they hadn’t done it and thought, what the hell!? Why not? it worked only 3 eps earlier with the stages of denial crap they did.

*sigh* Why do they insist on milking something till it just dries up and then leaves a sour taste in your mouth I will never know. Surely someone over there has a soul they haven’t already sold or given away and will know when to end a show?

Well thus ends my rant. Sorry it is soo long, but I just had to get it out there.
So on that note, at 7am, I must be off to bed.

*My mistake :(
**Thankfully not mine. If i made that crap, I think i would get my self arrested for crimes againts humanity or something.
***Please, someone, get me the address of these writers! I know a 3 year old who comes up with better stories, all be it that they generally contain ponies and rainbows, but at least they don’t SUCK!
****I think I died a little inside watching it all
